Proton Edar Is CRAP!
Song playing: Snow Patrol - Run
Remember when I posted about my new Proton SAGA BLM air cond switch coming off?? Well, I finally called up Proton Edar after being tired of waiting for them to call me (as they promised!!).

This time.. I was more than ready, with guns blazing.. and ammunition to kill off the Proton operator.. and bang them with every inch of possible reason why I should be pissed for not getting my car fixed in time. I mean, its been 4 months. 4 DREADED MONTHS since I’ve made the warranty claim… and all I get is the excuse.. “The part haven’t arrive yet sir“.. Fuck!! I see SAGA BLM’s moving here and there now… its such a lame excuse.
(Proton’s Platinum Dealer with lots of excuses!!)

Anyway… I was pleasantly surprised when my called got answered and was told that the part was ready, and that I could come over at 2pm to get my new air cond switch fitted. (Yayyy!!!!!)… I thought my ‘always-on‘ air cond days were over.. and practically was already dreaming of having my car fixed and being able to make it back for the teacher-student football match at 3.30pm.
I left work earlier than usual… arriving just before 2pm at the Proton Edar Service Center. Without further or due, I parked my car somewhere visable, and went to register myself for the service. My heart was just glowing with hope that I could make it in time for the game.. and hopefully see some action. Yeah.. they said 2pm.. I’m here at 2pm.. and all I need to do now is wait..
(Work hours… but up to 4pm.. there was no one taking my car for repairs!)

Waited for half an hour.. my car was still at its stagnant position… 3pm passed.. and still, there was my beloved SAGA BLM sitting quietly…UNTOUCHED. I approved the service counter just to hear those manning it say.. “Its just been 15 minutes.. Be patient“.. in which I replied.. “15 minutes?? Its been an hour!!!“, with I assure you great dissatisfaction in my part.
(Time passing by)

3:30pm… and I know I can’t see any action today… DAMN!!! Its so definate that I finally sneaked into the service area to find out that there was NO mechanics. If there was.. there was so little seen… I saw cars left UNMANNED!! And this is what Proton Edar calls as their PLATINUM DEALER?? WTF???!!
(Try and find their mechanics in these photos.. and try to count how many you can see)

(The original Saga left dangling)

I retracted back into the waiting room.. really pissed and bored with the situation. I didn’t want to burst out because I feared they would take it out on my car.. So, I stayed as calm as I can.. Finally.. at 4pm.. I saw my beloved car driven in.. and at 4:30pm.. It was ready for pick up..
When the customer service officer came up to ask me to sign the service completion form.. I asked for some sort of compensation for being made to wait for soOOOooo darn long. He replied rudely by saying “If everyone was to ask for free gift/compensation when they have to wait so long.. rugilah we people“.. AaaAAAsssSSS!!! “Hey Brother, YOU ARE DOING SERVICE!!” at least that was what I really wanted to shout to his face, but I knew better to trouble myself.
(Finally, Its fixed and my car is complete)

Hmm.. I left with a vowed never to visit this particular service center again. If you haven’t been following muy post.. here’s a good reason why:
- 2 hour WAIT for a 30 minute service (which was actually not the first time!!, and I know my mum had her Kelisa serviced in less than an hour!!)
- RUDE counter service (hey, you don’t answer someone which is pissed that way!!)
- NO COMPENSATION for being so damn late!! (yes.. the main reason.. I waited for 2 hours and 3o mins, but was not even offered a drink…)
Now I know, why my dad despise Proton so much.. huh!! Keep this up Proton, and you’ll loose more than a customer…

LOL… My father just went to service my sister’s new persona recently. It was Friday morning. They asked my father to come at 10pm and at 12pm, you know what? They went for sembahyang. So they asked my father to wait there till 4pm. And my father was alone over there waited for 6 hrs just to service a car. I wonder, proton can learn from toyota. Efficiency and fast with quality service.

I’m sorry to hear your bad experience there. My first car was Proton as well and I total understand how frustrated you are - been there before! That’s why all Proton owners would vow now to buy Proton again… And that’s why, you can hardly find any Proton owners continue back to their service station after the warranty expired.
BTW, maybe you hear my story you’d be glad of yours.
On the first day I received my car, the car break oil system leaked - so the car was delivered without a drop of break oil in the breaking system. I had to drive that defect car to a nearby service center, where they topped up for me (at that point we didn’t know there was a leakage).
Few months later, it was empty again, then only they agreed to inspect carefully and found the cause.
Also, on the first day I received the car, the paddle of the break (the center one) came off when I was half way driving. Without that paddle, the part that you can stamp your foot to stop the car is as small as just your thumb. In panic, I had to take a quick glance down to find that metal piece - I could have hit into other car in that process of finding the break metal!
Scary huh?!
Never to go back to Proton after this…

thats a pretty shitty ’service-center’ there…I mean it looks so ‘barren’…i didn’t know mechanics can go in and out of workplaces like bosses…nice pics of the empty garage tho’..sure Proton will ‘feel’ that when they check this site out..hahaha…

>>> Yeah.. I was wondering the same thing too, especially since I saw the mechanics and service centre guys moving in and out of the ‘platinum proton dealer’
menj
>>> Thank you for your advice.
hyperx
>>> yeah.. they should start learning. I always actually wondered why my dad was mad with proton, and now I know it first hand.
Suzette
>>>well, thats really scary.. I think I will follow your advce and never go to a Proton service centre after my waranty expires..huhuhu.. but sometimes, do we have an option?
ItsMe
>>> Okay.. thanks.. you too.
Xander
>>>If Proton does check out this site/blog.. they should take note.. the other day, my car almost can’t start. I’m starting to wonder on how good the SAGA BLM is..

My wife’s looing for a car and the BLM came top in the list due to its affordable price. But after reading your blog I would think otherwise and prefer to go for Perodua
thanks for the insight int Proton’s after service. They are a bit sombong probaby because their present models of Persona and BLM are selling like hot cakes. During the tough years they seemed to be begging for people to buy their cars.

Toyota is not user friendly also lah… their service also suckssss big time.. for normal service in KL you have to make appointment and it will take them around 5-6 hours just for normal service. For major services? Your guess is as good as mine coz’ I didnt went back after the 2 free service (not so free - only the service charges are free). Their car wash is a joke. They will somehow fill the dipstick above the max level.

>>> Well, The SAGA BLM is still a good buy.. Still really satisfied with my car. Just that their service sucks big time..
Der
>>>Toyota is the same huh?? I though they should be better.. So far Perodua has the best service then.. less than an hour, and your car is ready!!

Yes and I got friends who stop servicing due to high fees especially when the so called Max-Check which can go upwards from RM850.00 and above.(This for Avanza)
Some say penny wise, pound foolish for voiding the warranty when you service outside but in the end I feel that the end user should be happy to do watever they want and how they want it….
Rgds.

[...] Since I am talking about police reports, I noticed that Irene pointed out some issues regarding bloggers which got entangled in court issues, as well as threats over what they say in their blog. I think most of us bloggers should read her article, as it is a good eye opener, especially for those whom tends to be very harsh in their blog post. It’s actually not really about what you say, but how you put it. I am a little worried actually after reading Irene’s post, but I do not recall bashing anyone that bad except for Proton Edar. [...]
