School Un-Officially Begins

Time just flies.. I didn’t actually realize that in two days, its already 2008! I feel I haven’t achieved that much this year, and there is still so much to do in 2007.
If only I could plead to the year 2007 and say… “Please don’t leave.. not now“, but then again, what will I say next?? It most certainly can’t be “see you next year“, kan?? That would be not only weird, but insulting.

As my colleague Ben said, school registration is a trend. Back a few years, there was no such thing as school registration for students in Form 2, 3 and 5. They just came to school on the day school re-opened and everything was done, there and then. Now, maybe due to competition to show off to the ‘big shots’ in the Ministry of Education, all student’s regardless of class have to register early. I might be wrong about saying that schools are trying to impress ‘those above’, but if it was done for the sake of making lessons start as early as possible, its just a big bluff as everyone knows that lessons only resume after the 2nd day of class due to administrative work which most of the teacher’s have to attend to. Owh well, whatever the reason, we had our’s today, and I could say it went well with the whole process looking smooth.

Since I am not a form teacher, my boss asked me to help out Ben in his class, and so there was I, acting all professional and stuff. Just like the ordinary teacher you see in class. When there were no parents or students, we took time to chit chat on what we did during the holidays. It was fun at the beginning, but after an hour… it got boring. Why shouldn’t it? We had to be in class waiting for 36 students/parents from 8am till 12:30am. That’s like 4 hours and 30 minutes!! Lucky for us, packed food was provided (although it was the lame canteen food.. yucks!!). I guess, next year I’ll suggest registration to go on for a couple of hours only. Then, I could get a good hot bowl of kolok mee outside by 10am…hehehe…

Ben registering a student

Well, I did mention a few months ago that I was designing the cover of the school diary(err.. I can’t find the related post, but I’m sure I did mention about it). Well, the diary is out.. and what can I say… I think it looks really good on hard cover… I guess I do have great talent on designing…hehehe.. Talk about ‘masuk bakul angkat sendiri“.. hehehe.. anyway, here’s my proud design.. Its actual hard-copy cover. My second should be the SMK Sg Tapang school magazine (I wonder when that will be out). Well, I don’t care if you think its simple or just crap. I did the design myself, and I am proud of it.

Now that I have got all that told here, I think the next post will feature my trip to Boulevard (yeah, I know.. its kind of an outdated story coz Free, Irene, Anna, Jimmy and so many other Kuching based bloggers have already said something about it.. but you might want to hear me out)… so till then, if you have your own domain, why not earn a few USD extra by registering for Nufflets because they are giving away free USD15!!

    >>>Its kind of nice to have a diary.. but its better to go without one.. it cost a few extra ringgit. I think I’d prefer to spend the money on something else.. but that’s the trend nowadays.. got diary, got neck tie.. got this.. got that..

and yes.. 2009, I guess I’ll be still designing the cover.. but that’s like a year to go.. :D

Yeah.. I’m not sure about private schools. Government schools got all this crap going on… Its an unnecessary burden to everyone if you ask me.

Yeah?? Well, how long did you type it? I consider this a bug coz I never put a limit for the comments. I haven’t experience it myself. I’ll look into it.. Thanks for the info.
