Review: I Am Legend
My name is Robert Neville. I am a survivor living in New York City. I am broadcasting on all AM frequencies. I will be at the South Street Seaport everyday at mid-day, when the sun is highest in the sky. If you are out there… if anyone is out there… I can provide food, I can provide shelter, I can provide security. If there’s anybody out there… anybody… please. You are not alone
I have been watching quite a number of movies this few weeks, and I have to hand the ‘best movie award’ to this movie by Will Smith. Okay, maybe I am exaggerating by saying this is the best movie ever, but still, among the few movies I have watched this month, this tops the list.
The plot is simple. Its sort of a ‘Resident Evil’ type of movie, where an experiment or rather a cancer cure goes awry making humans turn into vampires. Will Smith, which acts as Robert Neville tries hard to cure this newly spread virus alone. He does hundreds of trails, all without success. Nonetheless, he keeps on wondering the streets of New York with his loyal dog, while broadcasting daily for any survivors to meet him at a certain point. The movie goes on and on… (Don’t want to spoil it for you!!)
The movie itself seems really realistic, and I kept on wondering how they managed to keep the streets of New York so quite and calm. Stunning effects made me glued to the movie. Altough there was no really scary moments, but you do get the feel of being in Dr Robert Neville’s shoes.
At this very moment, I remain curious over whether the vampires or ex-humans (infected humans) have a leader. Nonetheless, I was kind of disappointed with the ending as I wished the movie could be a little longer… After all, if you blend in ‘Blade’, ‘Resident Evil’ and ‘Cast Away’.. you would get ‘I Am Legend’. And while I am at it.. the title does not really speak for the whole movie at the very beginning, but once you get to the end, you will know what the name is all about. Its just as mysterious as a movie can be!!
Overall, this is a movie I’d definitely recommend and as of all of Will Smith’s other movies, this is a definite 5/5!! (Did you notice that Will Smith’s name is high above in the poster of “I Am Legend”??)If you haven’t caught this movie in cinemas… you should. Dig up your old student card if you find the ‘adult’ ticket prices to steep, because this is one movie you would really enjoy in the cinema! As for AvP2… you could just read all about it here… and do not bother to even buy the DVD.

I loves this movie too especially the Dog, Samantha. Too bad the Sam did’n survive. Anyway, I agree with you, I also think this movie is more better than other movie released this month.
