Filling In The Blanks

Today marks the beginning of an 11-day holiday for students in most schools in Malaysia.  With Hari Raya just a few days to go, most schools, as allowed by the Malaysian Ministry of Education(MOE) have opted to take up the extra replacement leave beginning tomorrow (11.09.2007).

Class on a normal day

Its actually not something every school wants to do, but judging from attendance today, you can bet what would happen shall class go-on for the next few days.

Class today

In addition to the low attendance, the Muslim students were asked to gather in the school hall resulting in the non-Muslim students being asked to re-group under the supervision of the non-Muslim teachers.  Since there was a great mixture of students of all levels and all classes, in one particular classroom, I decided to mingle with the students.  You know.. “mengeratkan tali-silaturahim (did I spell that right??)” kind of thing.

What students do when they are free… Notice the existence of two major groups?

I’m not sure what the students gained from todays lessons as classes really couldn’t go on as usual.  With an extremely low attendance, there is nothing I could do, but give students exercise.

Doing exercise.. thats the answer for low attendance.

Anyway, the arrival of a school break such as this one is always welcomed, but somehow… deep down, I know that I would actually miss going to class, meeting up with students, yelling at students, being bossy around people younger than me (hehehe…), acting ‘pandai‘ and so on…

Maybe I am turning into a true teacher after all…. Guess I am getting matured, and not mentioning BoooOOrrrriinnnGGGGg…. It seems to come with the job, but I just hope I won’t end up with this ‘trademark teacher’s‘ look….

Happy Holidays to all…..

what kind of exercise may i know u gave ur students? saje curious nak tau.

back in school last time, our teachers would either let us do our own things or just chit chat with us. i enjoyed listening to their stories, which i found them very enlightening.

Em.. I actually asked them to complete their ‘kerja kursus’.. even asked them to do their maths homework, but most of them seems uninterested. Chatted with most of them the whole day actually, just like what you said..hehe..
